Brexit Talk 2: Immigration, Residence and Brexit

Primary tabs

Description:
The Brexit referendum campaign was fought with the battle cry of taking back control. Many of those who voted for "Leave" did so at least partly on the basis of immigration. This event discussed how Brexit is likely to affect the status of EU citizens resident in the UK, and how the Brexit referendum and its fall-out will affect the UK's politics and economy. The event consisted of a round table discussion in front of an audience of students and staff at Royal Holloway, University of London, as well as members of the wider public, who were encouraged to ask questions during the discussion. The panellists comprised Royal Holloway's Professor Chris Hanretty (Politics and International Relations), Dr Cassie Schwartz (Politics and International Relations), and Professor Jonathan Wadsworth (Economics). This was the second of four talks about different aspects of Brexit, organized in the early part of 2018 by Royal Holloway's Jean Monnet Chair and the following academic departments: Economics, Law, and Politics and International Relations. The event was co-funded by the EU's Erasmus+ programme.
